Have Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How long does a typical move take?

Move duration depends on home size, layout, packing readiness, and elevator access. A studio takes 4–5 hours, a two-bedroom condo 6–8 hours, and a three-bedroom house 8–12 hours.

2. How many hours to load a full truck?

Loading a full 26-foot truck with three movers takes 4–5 hours. A 20-foot truck takes 3–4 hours. Unloading generally takes the same amount of time as loading.

3. When does the billing clock start and stop?

The clock starts upon crew arrival and stops once the last item is unloaded and all moving blankets and floor runners are returned back to the truck.

4. Do movers provide floor protection during a move?

Yes. Crews lay out floor runners to protect carpets, hardwood, and tiled floors throughout your home at both the pickup and drop-off locations during the entire move.

5. Can movers disassemble and reassemble my furniture?

Yes, at no extra charge. Common tools are provided, but for rare or custom-made furniture, have your manuals and specialized tools ready ahead of moving day.

6. What items will movers refuse to transport?

Movers will not transport flammable items like propane tanks, explosives, firearms, ammunition, animals, plants, pool tables, or safes due to strict safety and liability restrictions.

7. Is Ottawa Pro Movers fully licensed and insured?

Yes, Ottawa Pro Movers is fully licensed, bonded, and insured. Full details are available on the insurance page, and official proof of insurance is provided upon request.

8. What is the damage claims submission policy?

All loss or damage claims must be submitted in writing before movers leave your property, including a detailed description, item weight, and clear proof of loss or damage.

9. Do drawers need to be emptied before moving?

Yes. Items left in dresser drawers can overload the frame or shift dangerously if the dresser must be tilted during transport. Always empty all drawers beforehand.

10. Will movers help pack my loose items?

Yes. Request partial packing when booking and movers will bring supplies for loose items. A full professional packing team can also arrive one to two days before moving day.

11. How are furniture and belongings protected during transit?

Furniture is wrapped in soft moving blankets, mattresses and couches are covered in shrink wrap, and padded dollies are used to safely transport large and heavy items.

12. Are there any hidden fees in the quote?

Absolutely none. All charges are clearly presented upfront in your personalized written quote and are fully visible in your personal customer portal well before moving day.

13. What payment methods does Ottawa Pro Movers accept?

E-transfers, cash, and credit cards are all accepted. Personal checks are not accepted. Payment details are confirmed directly in your booking and customer account page.

14. Is tipping the movers acceptable or expected?

Tips are welcome and greatly appreciated by the crew. As a service industry, movers value gratuities. There is no obligation, but any amount is a kind gesture.

15. What exactly does the walkup stairs fee cover?

A walkup fee applies to staircases with six or more steps between levels. It reflects higher liability since most moving damages occur on stairs. Elevator buildings are fully exempt.

16. When does a long walking distance fee apply?
